What Is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture can be traced back to ancient China. Practitioners used it to treat a variety of ailments over the centuries, and now, it has migrated to the Western world. Numerous studies have shown that it has healing properties when administered by a trained professional.
Your body has over 2,000 acupuncture points. These points are situated along the pathways that energy flows through to keep your body healthy. If the energy flow is disrupted, you can suffer from a variety of conditions. Acupuncture restores the flow of energy to help people heal. It can increase blood flow and reduce inflammation to promote healing.
How Does Acupuncture Feel?
If you have a needle phobia, you are far from alone. Most people don’t like needles but still, enjoy acupuncture. The needles used are paper-thin, and you likely won’t even notice them entering your body. You will likely experience some sensations during the acupuncture treatment, though. This means that the treatment is working. Common sensations include heaviness, tingles, and warmth. You also might feel a slight achy or electric sensation.
Along with these sensations, many people state that they feel calm and happy during acupuncture. Many people leave the office with a new state of mind.
